The Magnum and Stryker have a bad rep with excessive noise in the receive.I have had them both and if your trying to listen to weak far off station then your out of luck They sound killer to everyone else but that constant 4 to 5 S units of white noise you hear gets old really fast.I have yet to understand why they dont fix that problem..and SSB Forget about it Click to expand.
He says we need to remove the turbo modulator to get rid of background noise on the carrier, then align it on receive. I still get a few compliments on my transmit, least the ones I can hear Buddy of mine has an early model Stryker, his was clean as mine was, took it to CB shop and now he listens to static too. I had confidence in both CB shops w same static (s4-5) result. Its my guess they are messing w digital boards that they are not equipped to handle, just the wave form on the old CRT. Hopefully some of Mr. Magnums strive for excellence rubbed off on the investors in Stryker, so far it seems to have. The CB shops did exactly what they know how to do, and thus you find every electronic noise possible. Ive talked to half dozen CB shops and not one can isolate the problem, however it seems to come from the adjustments of L6,7,8,10,12 or L3,4. Im about fed up with normal procedure, and ready to open it up myself without the gadets and turn down the sensitivity.
